Item Description
11 items from 1964-1967. All letters are on 6.25x7” personal stationary from Sebastopol, Ca. w/printed art of Charlie Brown w/his kite string wrapped around Snoopy’s doghouse w/Snoopy sleeping on top. All are written to “Alan Hirsch” of Highland Park, Il. Dates range from July 31, 1964 to Feb. 22,1967. All letters shown online. Seven are typewritten, two are handwritten. One handwritten letter is neatly hand printed by Schulz from “Your Friend Charlie Brown” w/thanks for Valentines, noting “I Don’t Get Any From My ‘Friends’”. The other mentions “ When I Was Your Age, Popeye Was My Favorite Character” w/Charlie Brown at bottom saying “Kind of a Short Letter If You Ask Me !” as Snoopy says “No One Asked You”. Typewritten letter contents include sending a “Peanuts Sunday” instead of a game, pen types used for drawing and lettering, latest TV special w/next one “About Linus and the Great Pumpkin”, a book next year on “The Great Pumpkin”, speaking engagements. TLS from June 21, 1966 has handwritten “P.S. I Saw Your Mom & Dad Yesterday”. Comes w/film canister holding 100’ color 16mm home movie titled “A Visit With Charles Schulz June 22,1966”. Last item is 5.5x7.25” glossy cardstock photo showing c. late 1940s young Schulz at drawing board w/ first feature “Li’l Folks“ original page. Most letters have faint horizontal center crease as mailed, one letter has faint signature, otherwise all letters are Exc. Seven have full signatures. Photo has lt. aging. VF. Film is Exc. An incredible historic archive reflecting Schulz’ personal appreciation of a young fan.
