Item Description
4-5/8x10.5" single-sided paper herald for Charlie Chaplin's 1915 Essanay comedy "A Burlesque On Carmen." Herald is for "South End Theatre," though we are unsure of the city this theater was located. Great design features Chaplin in his iconic Little Tramp persona standing behind fence w/movie showing text. "A Burlesque On Carmen" was initially released in 1915 and was re-cut and re-released in 1916. This is for 1916 showing and is listed as "First Run In This District - Charlie Chaplin In His New Four Reel Essanay Burlesque On 'Carmen'." Faint horizontal fold at center w/archival tape repair on back. Back also has some aging, but this does not affect front too badly. Displays Fine. Rare.
