Item Description
Large and imposing 18.5" long wooden bat body w/47" wingspan w/wings made of a heavily-coated canvas and ears made from thin copper (which has oxidized blue-green w/age). Created c. 1890s-early 1900s. Underside of bat's body has carved "WR" initials. Mouth is nicely detailed as carved w/sharp teeth (which appear to be rusted nails). Two eye screws on back have attached metal chain which allows for hanging display, making it appear as if bat is flying upwards. Wings have scattered moderate to heavy aging (more noticeable on underside) as does body. VG, but makes for a wonderfully bizarre display.
