Item Description
1.25" from the early 1900s, c.1904, with metal back and bar pin. A ribbon was once suspended from the metal back. Curl names maker as Cruver. This button relates to his position within the Elks fraternal organization and has the title "For Grand Exalted Ruler." More famous in the world of baseball he was President of the Cincinnati Reds baseball club 1902-1927. Over 17 of those years he was also chairman of the National Commission, the ruling body of organized baseball. One of his earliest baseball accomplishments was brokering a peace agreement between the American and National Leagues in early 1903. This included a post season "World's Series." Inaugurated as an annual event in 1905. This earned him the nickname "Father Of The World Series." Couple of exceedingly faint hairlines in reflected light. Exceptionally high gloss.
