These Steiff dolls came in a variety of sizes and this is 7" tall version. Stuffed felt doll w/oilcloth eyes and four mother-of-pearl pants buttons. 1930s. Original cardboard tag attached to chest and button in ear w/fabric Steiff tag. Both are Exc. Original string whiskers present, but as is typical, missing rubber tail. Underside of one foot has strong company markings. Doll has some small scattered spots of discoloration to right leg, pants and hand, but these do not detract greatly from overall appearance and doll is still a nice example w/clean, white face and deep rich color. Despite issues, doll is in choice, Exc./NM condition. From the Maurice Sendak Collection and comes with COA.
