Images include: capture of secessionist prisoner, cavalry charge through Fairfax Court House, cavalry surrender to Col. Wilcox, Fort Hatteras bombardment, Merrimac, Ky. war scenes, Mississippi River war map, slaves cutting Vicksburg canal, McClellan at headquarters. Nov. 9, 1861 issue has large quad fold “Southern States” supplement map inc. corner images of Lincoln, Seward, Scott, and McClellan. A few issues have art by Thomas Nast.
