Item Description
Original 7x9" glossy w/great action shot of Babe in the batter's box, post swing and with Dizzy Dean of the St. Louis Cardinals standing behind him in back of the batting cage. In the bkg. are other players and spectators. Reverse has ink stamp publication text including "Associated Press Photo" and date of March 21, 1935. The text publicity sheet that was originally attached has come loose and only about 50% remains but this includes enough text to detail the photo image. It notes "The Babe Went Hitless" and also makes reference to "Dizzy." Moderate handling wear w/lt. corner creases and a 1" ink streak at top right corner. Remains bright and glossy w/sharp image. VG. A historic photo from Babe's final year as a player. On Feb. 26, 1935 he was traded by the Yankees to the Braves. Ruth would not finish the season, he retired June 2nd. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
