Item Description
Postcard size 3.25x5.5" real photo w/glossy front and blank back. In our Feb. 2011 auction we sold a matching item for Willard Brown (it realized $3,527) but that had a postcard back. However, printed text on the front is similar. It translates roughly as "Left Field For Aguilas Cibaenas (Cibao Eagles) Ballplayer Of The Week Presented By Sports News July 30 1953." Bottom right also has text "No. 14" series number. Great image of him w/stern look on his face as he is in batting stance awaiting a pitch. Lt. trace of margin wear but clean and glossy. Alejandro Rogelio Crespo was a Cuban baseball second baseman who played in the Negro Leagues. He played professionally from 1918 to 1933 with several teams including the Cuban Stars (East), Cuban Stars of Havana, Gilkerson's Union Giants, and the Chicago Giants. He was inducted into the Cuban Baseball HOF in 1962. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
