Auction #210 - Part II
Item numbers 1271 through 3109 in auction 210
Item Description
For MAXx FX toy line information, see previous item #2686. Offered here is the prototype for the never-released MAXx FX Alien action figure, based on H.R. Giger's designs for the 1979 film "Alien." Unlike the other prototypes being offered this auction, this figure is an accurate casting of the original sculpture that Matchbox commissioned Birnkrant to create for the smaller-sized mego figure. It was not reinterpreted by the Marchbox design department as it was already produced in the final production size. The prototype figure offered here is the actual photo example used on the back of the Freddy Krueger box. Birnkrant's original figure from which this was accurately hand-cast has been lost. When all snap-on appliances are in place, figure stands an intimidating 11" tall. Base figure has hand-painted head. Included are all hand-sculpted appliances for lower legs/feet, thighs, chest/torso, upper arms (including piece meant for right arm on left arm, but not distracting), lower arms, hands, collar/back/tail piece that hangs over shoulders and stunningly detailed large head/mask. Base figure wears black bodysuit w/the MAXx FX logo on the chest (back of lower legs are exposed as designed, but this is not visible from front). All appliances have been painted black w/metallic silver air-brushing highlights. Head/mask has additional faint red air-brushing highlights. Aside from some minor paint wear on arms, one kneecap and tips of toes, figure displays Exc. Comes w/shipping box w/"Max Miracle Models" label, used to send and store prototypes. From the Mel Birnkrant Collection and comes with COA.
