Item Description
Lot of three items, all related in one way or another to the Soviet launched Sputnik 1 satellite, the first artificial Earth satellite. Late 1950s. First is 4x5.75 die-cut card containing "Space-Nik - The Spinning Satellite" toy by Colonial Moulded Plastics Co., Inc. Card shows the plastic Sputnik-like toy zooming through space w/an Uncle Sam hat on and has illustration of spacesuit-wearing child playing w/toy. String w/two plastic hoops is connected and toy is designed to spin and beep when the string is pulled taut. Card shows moderate wear and is VG/Fine. Toy itself is Exc. Hinged lid jewelry case contains thin gold chain w/"Sputnik - Genuine Cultured Pearl" star necklace. Case shows wear/aging and original printed satin-like insert has some aging. Fine. Necklace is Exc. Last item is charm bracelet again featuring cultured pearls and gold luster metal. Charms include large telescope, astronaut (made w/two pearls), satellite orbiting ringed planet, Sputnik-like satellite, rocketship and comet. Exc.
