Auction #211 - Part II
Item numbers 1197 through 2870 in auction 211
Item Description
Mattel ©1966 Space Productions. Factory-sealed large 15x24x4.5" deep illustrated cardboard box has great full color reflective foil box label showing the Robinson Family engaged in battle w/two large cyclops creatures (who are slightly different in appearance than the classic monster that was featured on the show). Underside of box has die-cut window showing the components of the set. Still sealed in original shrink-wrap, though a 3.5" puncture at center has allowed the "Shrieking Space-Tracer" attachment to come loose, but it is included. Box has scattered lt. wear w/a few creases due to tightness of shrink-wrap but VF/Exc. overall. Gun consists of two main hard plastic pieces which can be assembled into larger rifle or used as stand-alone weapons. Gun has viewing scope, whistle attachment and launches two "Roto-Missiles" saucers. Assembled size w/both gun units in place is 20" long. Larger of two units has foil sticker w/Mattel logo and "Lost In Space - Roto-Jet Gun" on one side of barrel while opposite side has detailed simulated controls. This unit produces a loud pop when trigger is pulled and known as the "Pistol" while the smaller gun is the "Roto-Launcher." When the smaller unit is connected to the front of the larger unit, it forms a sub-carbine and when reversed, forms rifle. All contents remain Mint as sealed. A complete Roto Jet gun is rare, a boxed example is extremely rare and a sealed example such as this one is unheard of. A true "Holy Grail" item and one of the most incredible offerings in the 48 year history of Hake's. We sold this very same item in our Nov. 2012 auction for $13,282. The winning bidder (now the consignor) has decided to part w/it, making their loss your gain.
