Item Description
This small series of Mickey and Minnie metal figures were combined w/other metal parts to produce useful objects such as ashtrays, playing card counters and banks. These early 1930s German-made pieces are all scarce and considered to be among the finest three-dimensional metal Mickey and Minnie Mouse figures ever produced. This example has 3" dia. by 2-3/8" tall metal bell base w/attached 4" tall figure of Minnie Mouse for total height of 6". Inside of bell is marked "Germany" in black paint and bell is complete w/clapper. Bell has some darkening to gold paint of bell exterior. Most gold paint remains w/a few scattered scratches here and there. Fine. The main body and head of figure are painted white metal while the legs, arms and tail are heavy metal rods w/arms bent into expressive positions and the long metal tail curling about Minnie's feet. Painted lettering on Minnie's bloomers read "Walt E. Disney - Minnie Mouse." Figure has scattered small paint flakes, mainly to her dress/bloomers and along edges of ears, fingertips and nose tip w/tiny flake by eye. Still a majority of paint remains, overall paint on figure is 85% complete. There is a small crack under Minnie's right arm, but this appears to have stabilized. VG/Fine overall. Minnie Mouse pieces are much rarer than their German Mickey peers and are most desirable. Rare and the first example of this piece we've offered in our 48 years. From the Maurice Sendak Collection and comes with COA.
