Item Description
Pair of 11.25x13-7/8" softcovers for 1941 have stiff paper textured covers featuring matching Art Deco inspired MGM Lion design (in two different colors). Back cover features different Leo the Lion cartoons, both showing him rolling up his sleeves, one w/Uncle Sam. First publication (#3) contains 96 bw and full color slick paper pages w/numerous photos and ads, including much Greta Garbo content, Edward G. Robinson gangster film "Unholy Partners" as well as Tom & Jerry cartoons. Double page spread for "Tarzan's Secret Treasure" features lion named King Tarz who preformed in the film. Second publication (#5) contains photos and ads for Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney film "Babes On Broadway," Wallace Beery, "Our Gang" and newsreel concerning looming war in the Pacific. Covers have scattered dust soiling, pinch creases to spines and handling wear. Fine overall. Limited distribution mainly for movie theater owners to promote new product. Scarce early issues.
