Set #7009. c. 1952 Marx. 14.5x22.5x4" deep box. Box variety has blue text with b/w image on the lid. Box has scattered wear, moderate aging. Box remains tight and complete w/cardboard insert. Fine. Contents appear complete with 2-pc. silver/blue tin litho space building which was once assembled and includes signal unit, front gate w/doors and nine wall sections. Marx produced both Tom Corbett and Space Patrol playsets and both types of figures were used in both sets. The figures included are 24 blue, 9 brown, 20 yellow, 20 grey. There are also 20 plastic helmets. Figures include aliens and robots as well as Tom Corbett figures. The hard plastic field accessories in silver include observatory dome, searchlight on pedestal base, radar antenna unit, fuel tank unit and more. Hard plastic academy furniture includes control chair, cabinets, benches, control panel, etc. The hard plastic operating accessories are saucer launcher w/two disks, three barrel pom pom gun w/spring-loaded firing mechanism, vertical rocket launcher platform w/rockets. Set comes w/10 shells for the pom pom gun. The original plain brown paper bags are included although worn w/numerous tears. The instruction sheet is aged and brittle. This version of the playset comes w/space car also. The building has scattered trace of wear as once assembled o/w contents show very lt. wear. Overall VF to Exc. A very nicely designed and detailed Marx playset.
