First is 8x10.5" dated January 9, 1964. "Bob Dole/Congress Of the United States/House Of Representatives" letterhead. Typed letter is address to "Miss Donna McLaughlin" of York Pennsylvania, daughter of newsman Harry McLaughlin. Dole's letter is in response to her concern of length of terms for members of The House Of Representatives. She suggested increasing the term from two to four years. His response included "I Do Not Share This View Point But Feel It Might Be More Appropriate To Reduce The Terms Of United States Senators From Six To Four Years." Next is three page 8.5x14" press release headlined "Remarks Of Senator Bob Dole/York County GOP Dinner/York, Pennsylvania/Monday, October 16, 1978. Now Senator Dole Discusses The Mid-Term Elections During The Carter Administration And The Desire To Put A Republican Back In The White House." Light Folds. Staple hole across his forehead at top left. Light wear. Third is addressed to York newsman Harry McLaughlin and dated September 5, 1980. Letter content includes "I Well Remember Our Conversations And The Points You Made About Problems Facing The American Circus And Its Future In America. I Welcome The Opportunity To Review The Materials You Enclosed, And Will Certainly Work With Our Mutual Friend, Bill Goodling, To See That Any USDA Rules And Regulations Not Put Circus' Out Of Business But Work With The Circus People In Developing Fair Regulations Which Will Enhance The Ability Of These People To Exhibit The Animals At One Of America's Most Exciting Attractions..The Circus."
