Item Description
11.5x20" stiff artboard w/original pen and ink art plus white correctional fluid touch-ups/accents. For Kellogg's 1950 series of 16 different plastic rings featuring "Movie Stars, Planes, Famous Characters." Large ring image that is just left of center is 4x5.5" and has original art paste-up of the ring's insert for "Dennis O'Keefe" although hand-lettered name has been mostly covered by white paint. This paste-up is loose, revealing original O'Keefe pencil design sketch underneath, w/some glue staining. 13 other rings are pictured along the left side and those that are distinct w/readable hand-lettered names are "Joann Dru, Buffalo Bill, Wanda Hendrix, Gene Tunney, Clipper, Douglas DC-6." Also prominently featured is ring for Babe Ruth (See following item #1104) which has small pencil notation on left margin "Babe Ruth Name Out." This name was once covered by white paint but this has dried and flaked so name is now visible. Bottom margin has pencil notations. Final image that appears at bottom center is of a boy and girl wearing rings w/"Golly - Look! They Fit Any Finger! I'll Trade You A Jet Plane For 'Dennis.'" word balloons. Scattered trace of dust soiling, lt. margin tanning but Fine overall w/nice art. Unique. This is a file copy from the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
