Item Description
13/16" tall with Mint luster outer frame having a floral pattern and surrounding a center oval elevated about 1/8" which in turn holds the oval ferrotype with the image set at a bit of an angle. Reverse of the embossed brass shell frame once had a horizontal pin. The catch remains but the pin itself is gone. The ferrotype image is extremely clear and clean with no emulsion blemishes. The item has a long collector history coming from the F.C.C. Boyd estate, then the Wayte Raymond collection, and finally Ford. Includes Ford's notated paper envelope and labeled plastic holder from Stacks Bowers auction Sept. 19-20, 2013. Only example we have seen and the Stacks Bowers catalog noted that there was no such item in the famous Lincoln collection of Zabriskie (see next item).

Item was photographed as sealed in Stack's plastic holder. White marks or dots are in or on the plastic, not on the item. Also, plastic layer creates softer focus of image which is actually quite sharp.
