Item Description
This item consists of a 1-1/16" tall brass shell frame holding an 1864 cardboard campaign photo of Lincoln. The frame has been wrapped in thin black gauze with a pair of horizontal black pins holding it to a 3.5" length of black velvet ribbon. We have not dis-assembled the piece from its gauze encasement but it appears Mint as issued as is the fabric except for a very minor ripple at the bottom of the velvet ribbon. The Stacks Bower auction Sept. 19-20, 2013 catalog traces the provenance from the F.C.C. Boyd estate to Wayte Raymond, to John J. Ford, Jr. collection.
