Item Description
7/8" jugate by Baldwin & Gleason. Hake #3180. NM displaying Mint. Second is .75" enamel on brass lapel stud reading "McKinley/Hobart" with text surrounding high relief depiction of an elephant's head with the eyes done with a pair of tiny red enamel dots. While the Republican elephant symbol was in use years earlier a review of items in the Hake guides reveals this is among the very first uses of the symbol on a campaign item.
