Item Description
First is the classic 1896 mechanical gold bug pin in brass with paper photos on the wings. When open the piece is 1-3/8" wide. This item is missing a tiny tab on the underside so the wings will not stay shut although they do have some spring tension and if pushed downward will spring back into position. Tiny loss on upper left corner of Hobart photo. Still nice brass color and overall VG. Second is a two sided celluloid spinner from 1900 with McKinley portrait on the front and American flag on the reverse. Next in row two is 1900s celluloid set within a brass frame accented by steel ball bearings, all complete. Next is a celluloid jugate set into a piece of what seems to be polished black coal. The jugate has a thin hairline cello crack across Hobart but still displays cleanly. The back of the piece has slightly raised lettering "Julius Edelstein" surrounding a simulated diamond center. The entire piece has a surrounding brass wire with a loop at the top. Rare and first we've seen. Last is a 3" tall ribbon badge. Hanger at top reads "Protection" and lower piece has inset celluloid reading "Protection/Home Rule." Flag above the rim edge has some horizontal stress lines and it pulled loose from the back of the brass hanger but is now held in position by a piece of reverse clear tape. Still displays quite cleanly.
