Item Description
This rare mechanical is unlisted in Hake. It is made of tin and is 2" wide by 2-3/8" tall. The back is unpainted tin with a large vertical stickpin. The front of the piece includes eagle, flags, and wreath around an open circular area with a tin photo of McKinley at the center and the words "Our Next President" below. There is a metal rod extending from the right side and when this is pushed the McKinley photo disappears to the upper left interior of the case and the circle reveals a tin photo of Theodore Roosevelt. Curiously, and of somewhat an eerie prediction, the words "Our Next President" do not change and appear below TR's photo. Two tiny paint dots off McKinley's jacket and noticeable loss of gold flashing from the front of the piece largely limited to the extreme outer rim edge and the gold edge that surrounds the opening for the candidate's photo. Vast majority of the colorful details remain. An exceptionally large and rarely offered mechanical.
