Item Description
17x21.25" frame contains 13x17" muslin fabric that was offered through newspapers as "The First Flag Of Comics" in 1937 for 10¢ w/mail-in coupon. Nine panels w/characters including Popeye, Krazy Kat, Flash Gordon, Maggie and Jiggs, Tillie The Toiler, Toots and Casper, Little Annie Rooney, Katzenjammer Kids, Barney Google and Snuffy Smith. Pinholes at corners, lower right corner has 1/8" tear. Right 3" to 5.5" margin has large moisture stain, but all colors remains strong and flag displays nicely as framed. Scarce.
