Auction #211 - Part II
Item numbers 1197 through 2870 in auction 211
Item Description
14.75x17.5" frame contains two acetate sheets that have been matted to 9.5x12" in a multi-plane format, appearing as they did in a c. 1969 animated TV commercial. Cels feature 2.75x2.75" image of Quisp hovering in the air, a color copy of a box of "Quisp" cereal in his hand, as if handing it to the 5.5x6.5" image of Quake holding a color copy of a box of "Quake" cereal in his hand. "Quisp" and "Quake" cereals were originally released in 1965 in the US by the Quaker Oats Company and generally advertised together (during the same commercial) w/their character mascots competing against each other. The successful ads were cartoons created by Jay Ward, who also created the cartoon characters Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, and many others. This is Quake after his 1969 makeover, which slimmed him down and changed his miner hat for an Australian bush hat and Australian accent. Professionally framed and matted under UV Plexiglas w/printed bkg. w/colors that nicely match art.
