Item Description
16.75x18.5" frame contains a section of seven boards from the floorboards from the original floor of the indoor arena that opened on Oct. 18, 1955 as the Rochester Community War Memorial in Rochester, NY. Renovated in the mid-1990s it reopened as The Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial, on Sept. 18, 1998. Display has two mounted album covers, including Faces "A Nod Is As Good As A Wink...To A Blind Horse" featuring Rod Stewart and Janet Jackson's "The Velvet Rope" album. Display also includes four engraved metal plaques, two under the album listing the album title and as well "Rochester War Memorial - 1972" and "Blue Cross Arena - 1998" notations. Central plaque reads "Appreciating The Past, Celebrating Our Present, Anticipating The Future - Presented To John Scher By Your Friends At The Blue Cross Arena, September 26, 1998." Bottom plaque reads "Rochester War Memorial Stage Constructed In 1955" referencing the bkg. being pieces of the actual floor. As such, the boards show moderate wear as can be expected. Faces album replica is missing one corner mount and both album replicas have faded w/age and have scattered rippling. These are just color copies as issued and could be easily replaced for an Exc. display. From the collection of John Scher, legendary concert promoter, producer and manager and comes with COA signed by him.
