Item Description
14.75x23.25" vintage frame contains artboard w/original India ink w/litho crayon shading art w/penciled title "Down The Drain" w/art of the Brooklyn Bum digging sand out of hourglass and shoveling it in face of Milwaukee Braves mascot. Art was published Sept. 20, 1956 in the "New York World-Telegram" newspaper. Lower right has inked signature/inscription "Willard Mullin - With Best Wishes To Mrs. Anna Wooley...A True Dodger Fan." Margins have scattered editorial notations in pencil, art itself is Exc. Reverse side has original cardboard backing w/several Mullin clippings glued in place, including this published cartoon. Nice example by the "20th Century Dean Of Sports Cartoonists" and Brooklyn Bum creator Willard Mullin.
