Each is 7/8" with W&H or American Pepsin Gum back paper. In addition to many royals and political leaders this group includes all of the eight jockey buttons issued in this series. Among the more interesting pieces are Napoleon, Charles Dickens, Fitzsimmons, Champion Fighter of the World, U.S. Grant, Abraham Lincoln, Czar of Russia, Civil War generals Sheridan and Sherman, Queen Victoria, Prince of Wales, George Washington. Within these 48 Longfellow has craze lines, Sheridan has two rim dots and the jockey Taral has faint dots. There are also included four of these in the rare 1.25" size. Two of these have back paper from El Capitan Chewing Gum, one has no paper and one has W&H paper. Those shown are Robert Burns, Charles Dickens, Shakespeare and John Whittier. First has a few age dots and second two have obvious stain and Whittier is clean. We know only nine different in this size. A rare set with most of the 48 Exc. to Mint.
