14x22.25" thin Strathmore artboard featuring original pen and ink art by comic book artist Ross Andru for the Oct., 1960 issue of "Showcase" #28 published by DC Comics. The issue featured the Sea Devils and was written by Robert Kanigher w/art and inks by Andru. Art is for page 10 of the "The First Frogman" storyline which features Ancient Greek diver Scyllis who was employed by the Persian King Xerxes as a treasure diver. First of four panels features modern Frogman following dive route of Scyllis and next two panels depict Scyllis diving in ancient times. Last panel features Scyllis chained before Xerxes, who tells him he will dive for him alone. DC Comics and "Showcase" title paste-over at top w/inked date, issue number and page number just above large "The First" partial "The First Frogman" title lettering. Bottom margin has trace of blue pencil lettering. Margins shows lt. handling wear/aging but art remains clean and Exc. Comes w/worn reading copy of the comic book this art appeared in.
