Highly detailed statue is cold cast and painted to look as if made of bronze. Batman stands 10" tall. Sculpted and hand-painted by Kent Melton as a "Proof" as noted by signed sticker on underside of base. Released in conjunction with the 1989 film. Statue depicts Michael Keaton in his role as Batman. This and following item #2376 differ from the fully painted limited edition statues in that not only are they "bronze" versions, but statues have slightly different designs. On the opening night of the release of "Batman," fans found a catalog of collectibles and memorabilia on their seats at the cinema. While the fully painted statues were in that catalog, they had already sold out, and it is believed that no one in the public ever had the chance to purchase them. Interest was so high in these statues that Kent Melton was persuaded to produce another edition of statues, w/the artist choosing to slightly alter them from his prior designs. Batman differs in that he is a full inch taller, his cape has two additional points added to bottom edge and his arms are crossed in front of his chest as opposed to the painted version which had his arms at his sides. There were only 100 Batman statues produced before the project was scrapped and they were never made available to the public. NM.
