Item Description
Lot of five bound scripts from the blockbuster 1989 "Batman" film directed by Tim Burton. Scripts are from various stages in the film's development, and date from 1984 to 1989. First script has title page w/large full body image of Batman and is noted as "Second Draft Screenplay" by Tom Mankiewicz. Next "Outline" is dated Oct. 21, 1985 and was written by Julie Hickson, "Based On Ideas And Concepts By Tim Burton And Julie Hickson." Hickson worked w/director Burton on his early projects before "Batman." Next is "Third Draft" dated Feb. 29, 1988 and features a screenplay by Sam Hamm, who went on to pen the final version of the film. Plastic cover overlay has large crease. Last two are both marked "Fifth Draft" and dated Oct. 6, 1988 and are noted as being written by Sam Hamm and Warren Skaaren (who would work on re-writes of the script after Hamm dropped out due to the 1988 Writers Guild of America strike). This is the Oct. 12 blue revised edition. Other script is the Jan. 14, 1989 revised edition and front cover has been boldly signed in purple marker by actress Kim Basinger, who played reporter Vicki Vale in the film. Basinger has added "Love" and a heart sketch. Exc. Scattered handling wear, most are Fine/VF overall. Interesting lot that shows the long and slow progression of the film and the many changes that occurred from script to script. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA COA.
