Auction #211 - Part II
Item numbers 1197 through 2870 in auction 211
Item Description
7.5" tall (total height overall w/base included) highly detailed and professionally painted resin model kit depicting the blue-skinned ape-like monster from the film "Equinox" (released on home video as "The Beast"), a 1970 sci-fi/horror film about four teenagers picnicking in the canyons of California who stumble upon an ancient book containing secrets of a strange world, and consequently unleash a plethora of evil creatures and monsters. Made in 1967, "Equinox" initially gained a reputation as a midnight movie during its theatrical run, but has in later years been noted for its practical yet sophisticated use of stop-motion special effects and cel animation. The film has been influential to the horror and sci-fi monster genres, receiving praise from filmmaker George Lucas and effects artist Ray Harryhausen. Model kit has had fur added to creature's forearms and cheeks as well as it thighs and backside, realistically depicting the creature as it appeared in the film. Creature holds tiny book in its hand, the book the teenagers stumbled across in the film. Displayed on custom wooden base that has been outfitted to look like canyon floor. "Equinox - Creature" placard on front. Exc. display.
