Item Description
Vintage 10-5/8x13.5" high quality matte-finish portrait photograph taken by noted photographer Roman Freulich shows a pensive-looking Boris Karloff, half his face robed in shadow as he smokes a long-stem pipe. Taken shortly after Karloff's success in 1931's "Frankenstein," Freulich was employed by Universal to take still portrait photos of their stars. Freulich has signed at lower right, though the darkness of the photo hides signature (it is visible in reflected light or upon close inspection. Exc. From the Boris Karloff Estate Collection and comes w/letter of provenance signed by Karloff's daughter, Sara Karloff Sparkman.
