Item Description
Original release 3.25x4" glass slide w/taped edges as issued for the now lost 1919 silent "Universal Super Serial" directed by James W. Horne featuring James John "Gentleman Jim" Corbett (1866–1933), an American professional boxer and former World Heavyweight Champion, best known as the man who defeated boxing legend John L. Sullivan. Despite a career spanning only 24 bouts, Corbett faced the best competition his era had to offer; squaring off w/a total of nine fighters who would later be enshrined alongside Corbett in the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Preview slide features image of Corbett in a tuxedo pointing revolver. Text at top reads "Coming!" Paper mount has some rippling but slide is o/w Exc. As this is a lost film, all promotional material for this film is rare.
