Item Description
Brass shell brooch pin listed as DeWitt/Sullivan 1860-142. 1-7/16" long with embossed text on axe blade and handle. Reverse has "T" bar hinge with "C" shaped clasp. An example Heritage Auction described as "We Believe The Finest Example Known" realized $2,875.00 in a 2013 auction. This example is every bit as NM as that example. This example has a trivial ripple on the pin shaft but the Heritage example had a very twisted "C" clasp. In both cases, a rarity and a superb iconic figural brooch highly symbolic of our 16th President's 1860 campaign.
