Item Description
These range from about 10" long to 15" long. All have their original peel off papers on the reverse except one reading "Strike Nixon Out!" which is simply a bumper strip shaped piece of white paper with no adhesive on the reverse. Leading off the lot is Youth International Party issued bumper sticker reading "Yippie!/Chicago/Aug. 25-30." These dates encompass the day before and the day after the historic Democratic convention and the violent interactions between the protesters and police. This bumper sticker was likely given away in New York City in the months prior to the Chicago convention when the Yippie's held a "Yip-In" at Grand Central Station and then a "Yip-Out" at Central Park. While these events were planned as simple "be-ins" interactions with police led the Yippie's to plan and promote a more radical approach to their demonstrations in Chicago. This sticker has a couple of near hairlines of adhesive, dried on the extreme left and right edges but overall condition is clean and VF. Numerous other anti-war stickers are included in this lot with a pair from the National Peace Action Coalition for demonstrations dated April, 24 and another dated Oct. 13 & Nov. 6. Numerous anti-Nixon stickers are included. 17 pieces in all. All in VF to Mint condition. An iconic group from the era and from the Levin Collection. Comes with Hake's COA.
