Auction #212 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 988 in auction 212
Item Description
1.75" with lightly aged back paper by W&H used only 1898-1900. Collet holds lightly tanned American flag ribbon. William Hoard, Governor of Wisconsin 1889-1891 published Hoard's Dairyman to promote the dairy industry. He is referenced in the text on this button which reads "I Have Subscribed To A Fund Of $10,000 Being Raised By The National Dairy Union Ex-Gov. Hoard President The Sum Of 50¢ To Be Used In Organizing The Dairy Interest Of The Country To Go Before Congress And Ask For A Tax Of 10¢ Per Pound On Oleomargarine When Colored Yellow Like Butter." We've seen just a couple of these buttons with various contributor amounts specified at the button's center. Top rim has small raised bump and tiny indent but button displays totally clean and glossy. Rare.
