Item Description
3x6" stiff paper card somewhat resembling a ticket. He is identified as "Rev. James R. Cox" and additional text along bottom edge reads "Proportionate Distribution $50,000,000 (Basis)/One Hundred Awards." This piece is c.1932 when Father Cox, a Pittsburgh priest led a large group of unemployed World War I veterans to Washington to take part in protests which were staged to get Congress to pay the promised bonus to largely unemployed veterans immediately rather than later in 1945 as the legislation passed in 1924 had stipulated. Light dust soil and a pair of barely seen 1/16" edge tears. Fine and rare. One seen. See next two related items.
