Item Description
Pair of original pen and ink sketches of Captain Marvel that were obtained in-person at comic book conventions in the 1970s. First measures 9x12" and features blue ink head sketch of Captain Marvel by legendary comic book artist C.C. Beck, the artist most synonymous w/the character. Image area measures 1.5x1.5" and art has been signed "To Lee" and is signed by Beck, who added "1975" date. Margins show moderate wear and sheet is aged but art could easily be matted and framed for an Exc. display. Second sketch is on 5x7.5" sheet of cardstock and features Captain Marvel from the waist up. Sketch was done by Don Newton, a comic book artist who drew several Captain Marvel/Marvel Family stories and studied under C.C. Beck. Newton has boldly signed his last name at upper left. Lower left has 2" crease and sheet has some faint age spotting, but VF overall. Marvelous vintage pair.
