Item Description
Lot of five original marker/pencil sketches by Ernie Chan, noted for his work on Batman and Conan as well as for his work in the genres of horror, war, and swords-and-sorcery. Included are two black marker sketches, one of Batman on 3.25x6-1/8" slip of paper and one of bikini-clad woman on 9x12" sheet. Batman sketch is Exc. Bikini sketch has handling and moderate margin wear. Fine w/Exc. image area. Lot also includes three well-done pencil sketches by Carl Potts, who began his comic career in 1975, and is noted for creating the "Alien Legion" series for Marvel Comic's Epic imprint. Potts is also known for overseeing the development of The Punisher from guest star to franchise character, and edited such titles as "The Incredible Hulk, Doctor Strange, The Defenders, The Thing" and "Alpha Flight." Included sketches are on two 9x12" sheets and one larger 11x14" sheet. Two smaller sheets have almost full page sketch of winged gargoyle character and full body image of Conan w/axe. First sheet shows moderate wear w/horizontal fold at center and heavy aging to 1/8" margins w/some small tear/chips. VG. Conan sketch is VF/Exc. Larger sheet has great pencil sketch of DC's Deadman. Moderate wear w/some scattered staining and oxidation at margins as previously framed. VG/Fine.
