World War I or shortly thereafter New York City group to benefit blinded veterans of war. Tinted color image of sightless soldier in brown military jacket with a medal against U.S. flag. Circular inscription is "May These Stars Shine For Him Who Hath No Eyes-Appealing To The Stars And Stripes." Opposite side has "78043" serial number plus listing of numerous fund officers including prominent political, business and society names such as Myron T. Herrick, Elihu Root, Vincent Astor, August Belmont, Mr. O.H.P. Belmont. Trivial traces of wear. Exc. and displays Mint. Two seen in 5 decades.
