Item Description
13x16.5x2.75" deep glass-fronted display case w/12" tall posts attached to sides and designed to look like barbershop poles. These posts were inserted into included wooden supports for displaying case at an angle. Case contains seven different 6" long folding straight razors. c. 1920s. These display cases held articles for home barbering and were used in chain of hardware stores started by Winchester-Simmons. Reverse-painted glass front w/thickened/rounded top edge slides out to change display. Originally, green felt-covered card insert was used to display items, this has since been replaced w/felt-covered plastic sheet w/straight razors of the period mounted on it. Various makers include Raleigh, Layfayette, Engel, etc. None are Winchester-Simmons. One has bone cover, rest are celluloid. Blades have heavy oxidation to tops but still makes for a nice display. Case has some lt. scattered wear, posts have some paint flaking. Displays VF overall.
