Reverse of this has a "Badge-A-Minit" metal back indicating that it may have been a personally created button using parts provided by this company which in the mid-1960s began selling button-making kits. This button is from the Levin Collection with his handwritten notation on the back "Zappa." We think this piece dates from the mid-1970s but no later than the 1980s.
