Item Description
Offered here are pair of "The Pirates Of Penzance" glazed china figurines based on the popular comic opera w/music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W.S. Gilbert. The opera's official premiere was at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in New York City on Dec. 31, 1879, where the show was well received by both audiences and critics. Its London debut was on April 3, 1880, at the Opera Comique, where it ran for 363 performances. 10.5" tall figurine of "The Pirate King" and 11.5" tall figurine of "Ruth, The Pirate Maid" both have Royal Doulton markings on undersides as well as 1980 copyrights. NM. High quality figurines w/great attention to detail.
