This exceptional series of Mickey and Minnie Mouse metal figures were combined w/other metal parts to produce useful objects such as ashtrays, playing card counters and banks. These early 1930s German-made pieces are all scarce and considered to be among the finest three-dimensional metal Mickey Mouse figures ever produced. This is metal ashtray w/attached 3.5" tall painted metal Mickey Mouse figure, w/raised lettering on sides of pants reading "Mickey Mouse - © Walt E. Disney." The main body and head are cast metal while the legs, arms and tail are heavy metal rods w/arms bent into expressive positions and the long metal tail curving down to the top of the tray where it then curls into nearly a full circle. Paint has darkened w/age and white areas of shoes/gloves/face now have a gray tone. Still a majority of paint remains w/scattered loss on shoes, fingers, nose tip and between eyes. More moderate paint loss on left hand and under arm/on pants. Overall paint on figure is 80% complete. Figure remains structurally sound and VG. Ashtray base measures just over 5" dia. and is 1" deep. Rim of base has lost most of the gold surface paint, but much paint remains on underside. The recessed ash area is darkened from use but has no holes. The underside of ashtray has handwritten "Germany" text and lt. paint wear. Ashtray portion is Good. Rare and desirable.
