Item Description
Extensive lot consists of 85 tin litho pinback buttons w/1" dia. each featuring same space helmet-wearing Tony the Tiger image w/"Astronaut Breakfast Game" text on either white (70) or blue (15) bkg. 1960s. Issued to teachers to encourage healthy breakfast habits among their students. Rest of lot includes original worn illustrated mailing envelope w/partially typed mailing label (VG), original worn button envelope (Fine), teacher letter/folder that also includes scoreboard for four different teams, 15x18.5" paper gameboard, 21 pledge certificates/scorecard sheets measuring 8x10" (all unused) for students to eat healthy breakfasts. All are unused. Game was played by tracking what each student had for breakfast every school-day over the course of four weeks. Points were assigned to each member of each team, added up to "Be First To Have Breakfast On The Moon." Paper items (aside from envelopes) are all Exc. Buttons were given out to students, the white buttons were "Game Pins" while the blue buttons were reserved for members of the winning team, accounting for lesser amount. Buttons have scattered wear, some are Good to Fine while most are VF to Exc.
