Highly detailed bronze over white metal bust of FDR “floats” over a hollow metal pedestal attached by a narrow metal flange almost totally hidden at front bottom edge of his neck. The pedestal is black paint over metal with green felt pad on underside. Base is about 3.25” square and the bust stands 9.5” tall. Front of base has inset bronze color paint panel with incised text "Franklin Roosevelt/ By/ Jo Davidson.” Reverse bottom edge of bust is incised Jo Davidson. Wash. 1934 ©. Interior edge of neck names foundry as A.C. Rehberner Co. Chicago. Narrow vertical lines of black paint off front corners of the base, additional hairline surface scratches and dots of black off the left panel and a few tiny paint dots off the front name panel. Base is fine while the bust itself is excellent with no obvious wear to the bronze plating. A highly realistic portrait sculpture from FDR’s second year of his four term presidency.
