Item Description
First is the official 1949 Truman inaugural brass medal, 2”, only 7500 struck. Unlike many, no spotting, but tiny rub on his cheek and small number of pinpoint brass luster dots off each side. Fine. Next are 2 identical 1972 Truman medals, each 1.5”, with one marked Sterling and the other brass. Both have Truman and Churchill shown on reverse with Churchill's quotation “You, more than any other man, have saved Western civilization.” Both Mint. Next is 1.25” brass 1949 inaugural medal, but holed for key fob use and worn. Next is 4x7” card with sealed one ounce .999 silver medal for Truman’s 100th birth anniversary in 1984. 1-9/16”. Next is vintage 1948-49 silver plated spoon by Rogers with HST image and image and text for “Berlin Airlift.” Minor tarnish. Next is mint brass 1.5 medal for HST Centennial in 1984. Next are 3 identical 1-5/16” mint brass medals for HST inauguration but likely U.S. Mint issued pieces circa 1970s as is the following large 3” brass medal of same design that comes with U.S. Mint box from 1972. Next is Wilson 3” brass medal from U.S. Mint circa 1972 but with 1917 inaugural date on back. Back has dark .5” tarnish spot. Comes with box. Last is the official LBJ bronze inaugural medal from 1965. 2.75”. 26,275 made and mint condition. The official 1949 Truman inaugural medal consistently sells well in excess of the opening bid for this 13 piece lot.
