Item Description
Five posters, each 14 x 20” on card stock, all designed for Jack Morrison For Mayor. He was a two term 1961-1969 member of the SF Board of Supervisors, but lost this election to Joseph Alioto. All five posters are in the collection of the Oakland Museum of California as part of a project named “All Of Us Or None” to document posters of modern progressive movements begun by Free Speech Movement activist Michael Rossman. These and other great 1960s posters are on the museum website. The first with peace symbol has the word “Asen” within the symbol design. The second with slogan “For A New Look” is by Dennis Beall with text “© D. Beall 67”. Third with image and “For Morrison” has facsimile signature of artist Nathan Oliveira. Fourth with “Golden Gate Park/Morrison Mayor” text has facsimile signature of Beth Van Hoesen. Last with candidate portrait in psychedelic style with text “Morrison For Mayor” has text on bottom margin from famed concert poster designer and reads: "© 1967 Wes Wilson 10-2/All Rights Reserved." Posters have slightest age tone on blank reverse. They are all very close to mint. Only exception is faint 1” long hairline crease at bottom center of first two, barely seen even in reflected light. This tiny flaw is not on the last three. A rare group of limited issue posters.
