Item Description
9.75x13.5". This document proclaims that President Monroe grants Williams Adams, a private in the forty second regiment of infantry one hundred and sixty acres...in the territory of Illinois. Dated October 6, 1817. Signed at the conclusion by Monroe and counter signed by Commissioner of the General Land Office Josiah Meigs. Document retains its white paper seal affixed to the lower left, with some chipping to edges. Intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature), significant overall staining but all is readable and signature is very clear. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA. Don & Mildred Wright Collection.
