Item Description
Vintage 8x10" sepia tone photo w/"Murray" studio mark at lower left shows great portrait image of Douglas Fairbanks Sr. (1883-1939), a Hollywood legend integral in the development of the Hollywood movie business. Fairbanks was a co-founder of the United Artists film studio and one of the original 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Fairbanks hosted the first Oscars Ceremony in 1929. Marrying Mary Pickford (see item #1305) in 1920, the couple became Hollywood royalty, Fairbanks being referred to as "The King Of Hollywood." Photo features wonderful pensive image of Fairbanks, who has signed in black ink "To E.O. Halley - Best Wishes From Douglas Fairbanks - 1923." Photo has some even lt. aging and lt. margin wear, but none too distracting. Displays VF. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
