Item Description
Complete basic set of 12 pieces (plus additional lion), measuring between 1" and 4.5" tall. Made by GEM Clay Forming Company for distribution by both sponsors of the Tarzan radio show and others. 1932. Basic Fould's set of ten includes Tarzan w/Cheetah (this is first version w/o name on base), Kala holding baby Tarzan, Jane Porter, Numa the Lion (2), Sheeta the Panther, Witch Doctor, Pirate w/treasure chest, Lt. D'Arnot, Cannibal Warrior and Monkey Trio (which were counted as a single item and shipped in same box). All but Pirate and one of the monkey statues have been nicely painted by original owner. Lt. D'Arnot has some paint flaking to blue jacket and Cannibal Warrior's paint is a bit lt. Rest have some scattered lt. aging/dust soiling but are VF-Exc. overall. Statues come w/9.5x9.5" order sheet which shows all statues in this set as well as color guide for painting. As noted on order sheet, three "Foulds' Directions" panels were needed for each statue. Sheet has been folded and shows wear w/splits along fold lines and archival tape repairs. Just Good. Lot also includes scarce 3.5x9" double-sided order form for "Tarzan In Jungleland" stage bkg. for use w/these statues. This stage was also a Fould's premium and was available w/three panels/cellophane packages of Fould's Egg Noodles. Vertical fold at center w/diagonal corner crease. Fine.
